The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris

"The Silence of the Lambs" is a psychological thriller novel written by Thomas Harris, first published in 1988. The novel follows FBI agent Clarice Starling as she works to track down a serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill," with the help of the cannibalistic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The novel was a commercial success, and won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel in 1988. It was later adapted into a highly successful film of the same name directed by Jonathan Demme and released in 1991, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Lecter. The novel and its adaptations have been praised for their chilling and suspenseful atmosphere, as well as the complex and nuanced characters.
